Once upon a time in a small village lived a woodcutter and his two children, Hansel and Gretel. The family was poor, and as their mother had passed away, they relied only on the meager income the woodcutter earned from selling firewood. Times were tough, and food was scarce.

Days went by, and each night the witch would check Hansel's finger to see if he had grown plump enough to be eaten. Crafty Hansel, however, would trick her by holding out a bone instead, fooling the witch into thinking he was still too thin.
While the witch was blinded by her desire to devour the children, Gretel hatched a plan to free Hansel and escape. Pretending to be confused, she asked the witch to demonstrate how to light the oven properly. When the witch was occupied, Gretel pushed the witch into the oven cruelly ending her reign of terror.
Freed from the clutches of the witch, Hansel and Gretel found a chest filled with treasure, hidden away by previous victims of the witch. They collected as much as they could carry and decided it was time to return home.
Using the gems and gold they had found, the children were able to care for their father and themselves. The selfish stepmother had long vanished, and with their newfound wealth, they ensured they would never go hungry again.
The legend of Hansel and Gretel serves as a powerful tale of courage, resourcefulness, and familial bonds. Despite being abandoned by their own family, the siblings never lost hope and outwitted the witch together. They showed that with determination and clever thinking, even the most daunting circumstances can be overcome.
